Environmental Benefits

Metal production, particularly aluminum production, is associated with substantial environmental costs. Current aluminum production methods lead to high energy consumption and high green house gas (GHG) emissions. In partnership with our clients, Wireless Industrial Technologies is working to reduce the environmental impact of aluminum smelting by monitoring pots for the early warning signs of anode effects. Anode effects contribute to any plant’s energy use and GHG emissions by producing PFCs.

Aluminum

Current aluminum production is only 40-45% efficient and globally produces more GHG emissions than Germany. While these facts may seem startling, they also offer opportunity: aluminum companies can make great strides in reducing their environmental impact with the help of Wireless Industrial Technologies.

In addition to combatting anode effects, WIT sensors stand to reduce overall energy consumption by constantly monitoring energy use and identifying excess energy use.
